Set up patron perks

Patron perks are extras you grant to paying members on top of content access — exclusive spaces, a badge, or bonus XP. They make a subscription feel rewarding and improve retention. This guide covers attaching perks to a tier.

Steps

  1. Go to Admin → Membership Tiers and open the tier you want to enhance.
  2. Open the Perks section.
  3. Add one or more perks:
    • Exclusive space — gate a space to this tier (set in Admin → Spaces).
    • Patron badge — assign a badge that shows next to the member's name. Manage badges in Admin → Gamification.
    • Bonus XP — award extra XP so patrons climb the leaderboard faster.
  4. Save the tier.

Make perks visible

Members upgrade for benefits they can see:

  • List perks clearly in the tier's benefits description.
  • Announce a new perk in an announcement channel.
  • Use the patron badge so the status is visible across chat.

Combine perks with gamification: a patron-only weekly challenge plus a badge gives ongoing reasons to stay subscribed.

Verify

Subscribe with a test account, then confirm the badge appears, the exclusive space is visible, and bonus XP is applied on the leaderboard.

FAQ

Can free members earn the patron badge? No — patron perks are tied to a paid tier and are removed if the subscription lapses.

Do bonus XP perks stack with normal XP? Yes. Patrons earn standard XP plus the bonus, so they progress faster.

Can each tier have different perks? Yes. Give higher tiers more exclusive spaces and stronger perks to justify the price.
