Customize navigation
Navigation is the sidebar members use to move between spaces, channels, courses, and pages. Good ordering puts the most important destinations at the top and hides clutter.
Steps
- Go to Admin → Navigation (or use the reorder controls in Admin → Spaces).
- Reorder items by dragging. Put your "Start here" space and key channels near the top.
- Group related spaces under a space group so the sidebar stays scannable.
- Decide where built-in destinations appear — Courses, Leaderboard, and any custom pages you've published.
- Toggle visibility for items that shouldn't show to every member; hidden items follow the access rules of their space or page.
- Save. The new order applies immediately for all members.
The first thing a new member sees should be obvious. Pin an onboarding or welcome space at the top.
Verify it worked
Open the community as a member. The sidebar reflects your order, groups are collapsed/expanded correctly, and every visible item leads somewhere a member is allowed to access.

FAQ
Can I rename navigation items? Rename the underlying space, channel, or page — the sidebar label follows the item's name.
Why can't a member see an item I added? Its space or page access excludes their role or tier. Check How access control works.
Can each member customize their own sidebar? No. Owners and admins set navigation for everyone; members can collapse groups locally.
Does the AI Owner Copilot help here? Yes. You can ask the Copilot to create channels or reorganize spaces, with a confirmation step before it applies changes.
