Join a community
You've been invited to a Bonfire community. This tutorial gets you from the invite link to your first post in about 5 minutes.
1. Open your invite and sign up
- Click the join link from your invitation email.
- Choose Sign up with email or Continue with Google.
- If you used email, confirm your address. You're in.
No invite link? Some communities have a public join page on their address (for example
community.onbonfire.com). Open it and sign up there.
2. Complete onboarding
If the community has an onboarding flow, you'll see a short guided sequence.
- Follow the steps (often: add a photo, read the rules, pick interests).
- Each step takes a few seconds — finishing onboarding often earns your first XP.
3. Set up your profile
- Click your avatar (top-right) and open Profile.
- Add a display name, photo, and a short bio.
- Save. A complete profile helps others recognize and connect with you.
4. Find your way around
- Spaces appear in the left sidebar, grouped by topic.
- Open a space to see its channels (chat rooms).
- Click a channel to read the conversation and post a message.
- Use reactions and threads to reply without cluttering the main flow.
- Open Direct Messages (DMs) to talk privately with another member.
5. Make your first post
- Go to the
introductionschannel. - Say hello and share what brought you here.
- React to a couple of other posts.
6. Climb the leaderboard
Many communities run gamification: you earn XP for activity, unlock levels and badges, keep a streak going, and appear on the leaderboard. Check weekly challenges for easy ways to rack up points.

Can I join more than one community? Yes. Each Bonfire community is separate, with its own address, members, and profile.
Where do I change my notification settings? Open your avatar → Settings to manage notifications and account preferences.
What are streaks and badges? Streaks reward showing up regularly; badges recognize milestones. Both are part of the community's gamification, if the owner enabled it.
